We’ll arrive at our hotel in Arba Minch just in time for lunch, after which we’ll begin our exploration by visiting the Dorze people. This small ethnic group, with a population of around 30,000 according to the 1994 census, primarily sustains themselves through weaving. During our visit, we’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the lush green hills and valleys of the Wolayta farmlands, along with stunning vistas of Lake Abaya and Lake Chamo, situated below the Dorze village on the mountainside. Day 4: Turmi –Omorate( Hamer and Dasanech tribe, 90km)

We wake up in Turmi, our base for exploring the Omo Valley. The Omo River, Ethiopia's largest river outside the Nile basin, along with its valley, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980 due to significant archaeological discoveries, including fossils and tools from Australopithecus and Homo dating back 2.4 million years. Our first excursion takes us to the Dassanech people, who reside at the Omo River delta where it meets Lake Turkana. Despite the presence of the river and lake, this region is quite arid, making water conservation essential. After visiting the Dassanech, we’ll return to Turmi for lunch at our lodge. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Hamer tribe, renowned for their ochre hair and the bull-jumping ceremony, a rite of passage for young men. We’ll have the chance to engage with the Hamer and experience their traditional way of life, which has remained largely unchanged for centuries.
